Integrated skills

教学目标: 1. To listen for details about changes to Starlight Town.

         2. To learn the new words and useful expressions by identifying specific details in pictures and general context.

3. To learn to talk about the changes in your own life.

1. Let’s talk about Sunshine Town’s past and present. Think about the buildings, the

   environment and the living conditions.

   Q:What does Mr Chen think about the changes to Sunshine Town?

2. A1 Daniel and Kitty are doing their history project. Listen to their conversation.

   Complete the information below about Starlight Town in the past. (P 15)

    Tip 1: Before listening, you can look at the pictures and read the text first, then guess

         the answer.

    Tip2: If the answer is a long word, you can write some letters.

 

Qs:  1. What can you see in Starlight Town in the past?

     2. What kind of transport can people use in the past, a bike, a taxi or a bus?

     3. Do the people live in tall buildings?

Work in groups to tell Starlight Town’s past and present. What has changed in the transport, the environment and the living conditions there?

e.g. In the past, people travelled by bus or bicycle in Starlight Town, but now they can travel by bus, taxi or even train.

e.g. A: What was the environment like in the past in Starlight Town?

B: There were green hills, clean and fresh air ··· what about the environment now?

A: Now the lakes become smaller, and there is a railway station, tall buildings and new flats.

B: Oh, it has changed a lot over the years/a lot of changes have taken place over the years in Starlight Town.

 

4. A3 Kitty is writing about Starlight Town in her diary. Complete her diary entry with the words in the box. (P 15)

Dear Diary,

Today, I borrowed a book about Starlight Town’s past and present.
