call up somebody或call somebody up意为给某人打电话

set about doing.意为开始，着手做某事

2. Some sentence structures in the reading passage.

so+adj./adv.+that 从句. 意为如此…以至于. 引导结果状语从句

He worked hard at his lessons, so that he gained high grades in the exams.

so that 从句，意为以便于，为了，引导目的状语从句；意为结果，因此，引导结果状语从句

Try to use expressions and sentence structures that you have learned just now to complete the following passage.

My mother

       My mother set out to learn how to repair my computer. She borrowed many books from library so that she could get/acquire more knowledge. Besides, she called up her friends and asked them for help now and then. She studied so hard that she repaired my computer quickly. I learned from her that only if we study hard will we succeed finally. I admired my mother very much.
